Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using your own device — your
images are never uploaded to a server.
Why isn't the quality slider shrinking my PNG?
PNG is a lossless format, so re-encoding it doesn't reduce file size the way JPG
or WebP do — the quality slider has little to no effect when "Keep original
format" is selected on a PNG. To meaningfully shrink a PNG, switch the output
format to JPG or WebP instead (note this means giving up transparency for JPG,
though WebP can keep it).
Can I compress several images at once?
Yes. Add multiple images, set one quality level and format for all of them, and
click "Download Compressed" — each file downloads in turn. Your browser may ask
permission to allow multiple downloads; that's a normal prompt for batch
downloads.
Why did a file get bigger instead of smaller?
This can happen with images that are already efficiently compressed — re-encoding
them at a high quality setting sometimes adds a small amount of size rather than
reducing it. If you see this, try a lower quality percentage.
