How it works

Choosing colors that still scan
QR scanners rely on contrast between the foreground and background. Dark foreground on a light background (the default black-on-white, or any sufficiently dark/light pairing) scans reliably. Very similar colors, or a light foreground on a dark background, can cause scanning failures on some phone cameras — always test a code with your own phone before printing or publishing it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my content or logo uploaded anywhere?
No. The QR code — including any logo you add — is generated and rendered entirely
in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Will adding a logo make the code harder to scan?
A logo covers part of the code's data, so adding one automatically increases the
error correction level to compensate — this lets the code stay scannable even with
part of it obscured. Very large logos can still cause problems; keep the logo
modest in size relative to the whole code, and always test-scan the final result.
What size should I use?
512×512 is a solid default for most digital and print use. Choose 1024×1024 if
you're printing the code large (posters, signage) since it stays sharp at bigger
sizes; 256×256 is fine for small digital placements like email signatures.
Can I use this for a business or product?
Yes — there's no watermark and no restriction on commercial use. The code is
yours; URLPDQ doesn't track or store what you generate.
